HDFC Bank has reported a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) expenditure of ₹1,316.18 crore for the financial year 2025-26, marking an increase of over ₹248 crore compared to the previous fiscal and taking its cumulative CSR investment under the ‘Parivartan’ programme to nearly ₹7,492 crore since its inception.

According to the bank’s Integrated Annual Report, the Parivartan initiative has now impacted more than 10.77 crore lives and extends across all 28 States and eight Union Territories. The programme is implemented in collaboration with non-governmental organisations, local administrations and community institutions to ensure sustainable and locally relevant development.

The bank’s flagship Holistic Rural Development Programme (HRDP) expanded its footprint to more than 11,000 villages during the year, up from over 10,430 villages earlier. The initiative focuses on water conservation, agriculture, livelihoods, education, healthcare, sanitation and community infrastructure.

HDFC Bank also expanded its interventions in border areas, increasing its outreach from 298 to 498 villages under the Government of India’s Border Area Development Programme and Vibrant Villages Programme. The projects include rural electrification, livelihood generation and improvement of educational, agricultural and healthcare infrastructure.

Deputy Managing Director Kaizad Bharucha said the bank remained committed to ensuring inclusive and sustainable development by strengthening rural communities and expanding its presence in remote areas of the country.

The bank said its education initiatives have supported more than 36,300 scholarships, established over 3,460 SMART schools and created over 930 community libraries. Under its skill development programmes, more than 9.6 lakh individuals have received vocational training and livelihood support.

In the healthcare sector, over three lakh people have benefited from preventive healthcare and hygiene initiatives, while the bank’s financial literacy programmes, including its ‘Vigil Aunty’ digital fraud awareness campaign, have reached more than 75 lakh people.

The report further stated that HDFC Bank has created 16,091 water conservation structures and installed more than 80,527 solar lights as part of its natural resource management initiatives, with its CSR programmes aligned to 10 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. [KNT]
