The Bank typically has two types of interventions. The Bank’s flagship Holistic Rural Development Programme focuses on integrated interventions across thematic areas. Additionally, Focused Development Programmes involve specific interventions under one or two key focus areas in a targeted geographical area.
Programmes are being implemented across districts including Baramulla, Budgam, Doda, Ganderbal, Jammu, Kathua, Kishtwar, Kupwara, Pulwama, Rajouri, Ramban, Reasi, Samba, Srinagar and Udhampur, addressing agricultural challenges and requirements related to education, skills, healthcare, and clean energy.
“At HDFC Bank, we believe CSR is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Through Parivartan, we design and implement need-based interventions that respond to the unique challenges of each region. Our work in Jammu and Kashmir reflects this philosophy, from supporting farmers with sustainable agriculture to strengthening education, skilling, and infrastructure. We remain committed to playing a small part in fostering inclusive growth and creating lasting impact at the grassroots level,” said Ms Nusrat Pathan, Head CSR, HDFC Bank.
“We are dedicated to offering a comprehensive range of banking services across Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring accessibility for all. As a socially responsible corporate citizen, HDFC Bank is equally focused on bringing meaningful change to individuals and families,” said Mr Dinesh Luthra, Branch Banking Head, HDFC Bank.

KEY INTERVENTIONS IN JAMMU & KASHMIR
Rural Development: Parivartan has supported 10,128 farmers through interventions designed to strengthen agriculture and rural livelihoods. The programmes include farmer collectives, capacity-building, access to shared machinery, processing and value-addition support, and solar-powered community infrastructure.
Saffron cultivation in Pampore: Parivartan is supporting saffron farmers with solar water pumps and solar dryers, alongside FPO development and market linkages. These interventions aim to strengthen cultivation and post-harvest practices and improve opportunities for farmers associated with one of Kashmir’s most distinctive crops.
Apple and walnut processing: Processing infrastructure supported under the programme includes solar dryers, grading and sorting lines, and other machinery to improve post-harvest management. By enabling processing, preservation and value addition, these facilities help FPOs develop market-ready products and access opportunities beyond the sale of raw produce.
Kashmiri red chilli in Uri: Farmers in Uri are being supported through polyhouse farming, drip irrigation and solar dryers, helping improve cultivation and post-harvest handling of Kashmiri red chilli. These interventions are particularly relevant for strengthening agricultural livelihoods in border communities.
Building market access through SAMARKASH: Established under the project, SAMARKASH is a shared brand through which participating FPOs collectively market processed agricultural products. The programme supports the FPOs with branding, packaging and market linkages to improve product readiness and strengthen farmer-led enterprises.
Promotion of Education: Education interventions include 901 scholarships under ECSS, 60 smart schools and technology-enabled learning facilities that have impacted approximately 15,000 students. Support includes digital classrooms, ICT resources and improvements to school infrastructure.
Skills, Employability & Women’s Economic Participation: Skill and livelihood programmes have trained 1,057 youth and supported 189 women. Interventions strengthen employability, entrepreneurship and traditional livelihood value chains, including artisan and craft-based activities.
Healthcare & Hygiene: Community-focused health and hygiene interventions support outreach, awareness and access to essential services, with an emphasis on underserved communities.
Natural Resource Management: Clean-energy interventions have supported 104 villages through solutions such as solar-powered systems and community lighting, improving energy access and resilience.
