Policeman Injured in Accidental Firing During Patrol in Kokernag

Anantnag, July 31, KNT: A police personnel sustained injuries after his service weapon accidentally discharged during a patrolling duty in the Magam area of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday, officials said.

The injured policeman was identified as Mohammad Altaf Khan, son of Habibi Ullah Khan.

Officials said the bullet struck his foot during the accidental discharge of the service weapon.

He was immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital Kokernag for first aid and was later referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for specialised treatment.

Officials said the condition of the injured policeman was stated to be stable, while further proceedings have been initiated. [KNT]
