Two Held With Charas-Like Substance During Police Patrol in North Kashmir’s Gurez

Bandipora, Aug 8, KNT: Two persons were apprehended after police intercepted them during a routine patrol at Dawar in Gurez, a border area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, on Saturday.

According to officials, SHO Police Station Gurez Nazir Ahmad, along with his escort, was conducting routine patrolling when the two persons were noticed behaving suspiciously. On seeing the police party, the duo allegedly attempted to flee but were apprehended at the spot.

The two were identified as Asif Ahmad Lone, son of Mohd Sultan Lone, resident of Wanpora Gurez, and Mohsin Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Mohideen Khan, resident of Chack Arsalan Khan, Bandipora.

Officials said a personal search of the two accused was conducted in the presence of the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Gurez/Tulail, and witnesses, during which packets containing a charas-like substance were allegedly recovered from their possession.

Following the recovery, FIR No. 12/2026 under Sections 18 and 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered at Police Station Gurez and investigation has been initiated. [KNT]
