JMC Installs Immersion Receptacles on Tawi Bridge to Prevent Waste From Entering River
Jammu, Aug 14, KNT: The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has installed immersion receptacles on the Tawi Bridge as part of measures to prevent religious offerings and other material from being directly thrown into the River Tawi.
The receptacles have been placed on the bridge to provide designated points for people to dispose of material associated with religious immersions, helping prevent the waste from reaching the river.
The initiative is aimed at reducing the dumping of flowers, idols, ritual material and other immersion-related waste into the Tawi, particularly during periods when such activities increase.
The move comes amid continuing concerns over pollution and the disposal of solid waste in and around the River Tawi, which remains an important water body for Jammu.
The civic body has urged people using the designated receptacles to avoid throwing immersion material directly into the river and make use of the facilities provided on the bridge. [KNT]
