Shopian Man Detained on Drug Charges, Lodged in Baderwah Jail

Shopian, Aug 18, KNT: A man from Keller in South Kashmir’s Shopian district has been detained under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and lodged in District Jail Baderwah under an order issued by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir.
The detained person has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Khanday, son of late Mohammad Ismail Khanday, resident of Khanday Mohalla, Theeran, Keller.
According to the police, Khanday was booked under the PIT-NDPS Act in pursuance of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Order No. DIVcom-“K”/115/2026 dated August 14, 2026.
He was lodged in District Jail Baderwah under the preventive detention order.
The action is linked to FIR No. 52/2025 registered at Police Station Keller under Sections 8, 20 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The preventive detention action has been taken against the accused in connection with the case registered by Keller Police. [KNT]
