Army Goodwill Schools, Bharti Airtel Foundation Mark 10 Years of Educational Partnership
Pahalgam, Sep 11, KNT: Headquarters Northern Command on Friday commemorated ten years of educational partnership between the Army Goodwill Schools (AGS) and the Bharti Airtel Foundation, highlighting initiatives aimed at strengthening quality education and creating greater opportunities for youth across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
The commemorative event was organized at Army Goodwill Public School, Pahalgam, and was attended by Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Co-Chairman, Bharti Airtel Foundation, and Shinei Sharma, Regional President AWWA, Northern Command, besides senior officials of the Indian Army and the Foundation.
The decade-long partnership has expanded from an initial engagement covering 14 schools to educational initiatives across all 43 Army Goodwill Schools in the region.
The collaboration has focused on strengthening institutional leadership, classroom practices, academic management and teachers’ capabilities, besides promoting technology-enabled learning and implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The initiative has also placed emphasis on creativity and scientific temperament among students. According to the Army, AGS Innovation Clubs have facilitated more than 160 student-led projects, with students participating in national platforms including ISRO YUVIKA, INSPIRE-MANAK and Young Scientist India.
Addressing the gathering, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma shared his experience as a student and spoke about overcoming challenges. He encouraged students to aim higher and remain committed to their goals.
Rakesh Bharti Mittal announced continued support to the Army Goodwill Schools for the next decade and outlined new initiatives by the Bharti Airtel Foundation.
These include providing books for school libraries, sports coaching, additional smart classes, scholarships for higher education and cash incentives for meritorious Class 10 and 12 students.
Shinei Sharma encouraged students and called upon teachers and parents to support them and prepare them for future challenges. She also emphasized the importance of educating girls and called for greater participation by society in promoting an inclusive environment.
The Northern Command said it remains committed to strengthening the educational ecosystem of Army Goodwill Schools and empowering students through education, creativity, leadership and overall development. [KNT]
