Committee Constituted at GMC Doda After Complaint Over Alleged Abaya Removal Incident
Doda, Sep 30: KNT: The Government Medical College Doda has constituted a committee to look into a written complaint concerning an alleged incident in which a doctor asked a student to remove her abaya, officials said.
The development followed a protest at the medical college, where students and others raised objections to the alleged incident and sought action. A protester questioned the objection to the attire, saying, “Why do they have a problem with our burqa? It is our identity and pride?”
The Deputy Superintendent of GMC Doda said a committee had been constituted after receiving a written complaint and that the matter would be examined.
The allegation has triggered concern among students and protesters, who called for the issue to be addressed through an appropriate inquiry.
The committee is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the complaint and submit its findings to the competent authorities. [KNT]
