Srinagar, Oct 8: KNT: Agriculture graduates in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday continued their peaceful protest for the 17th consecutive day, demanding changes to recruitment policies that they allege have kept entry-level technical posts in the Agriculture Production Department out of the regular recruitment process for nearly two decades.

The protesters, under the banner of the Agriculture Graduates Association of J&K, are seeking revocation of SRO-433 and SRO-442, which they describe as unfair and detrimental to recruitment opportunities for agriculture graduates.

According to the protesting graduates, the policies have effectively blocked recruitment against entry-level Gazetted and Non-Gazetted technical posts, leaving qualified candidates without regular opportunities in the department.

The protesters are demanding that vacant posts be referred to the J&K Public Service Commission and J&K Services Selection Board through a transparent recruitment process, while seeking equal opportunity for eligible agriculture graduates.

Carrying placards and banners during the protest, the graduates said they intend to continue their campaign until what they describe as the decades-long recruitment freeze is addressed and a fair mechanism for filling technical vacancies is established. [KNT]
