Kishtwar, Oct 19, KNT: Kishtwar Police have arrested a father-son duo in connection with the alleged murder of Special Police Officer (SPO) Bashir Ahmed, whose body was recovered from a pit in the Seran Wani area of Trigam forest after he went missing along with his service weapon on October 15. A possible land dispute has been cited in reports as a suspected motive behind the killing.

The accused have been identified as Bashir Ahmed Dar, son of Abdul Aziz Dar, and his son Nazir Ahmed Dar, both residents of Seran Wani in Trigam, officials said.

Bashir Ahmed, who was posted at Police Picket Trigam, went missing on October 15 along with his service weapon, prompting police to launch an extensive search operation involving multiple teams.

During the search on October 16, police recovered the missing SPO’s service weapon and subsequently found his body buried in a pit in the Seran Wani area of Trigam forest.

Following the recovery, a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), pertaining to murder, was registered at Police Station Kishtwar.

During the investigation, police arrested the two suspects. Officials said questioning and subsequent disclosures led to the recovery of the weapon allegedly used in the crime and belongings of the deceased that had been concealed. [KNT]
