Colombo, Feb 15, KNT: India outplayed Pakistan in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group A match at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, extending their long-standing dominance over their arch-rivals in global events. India posted a strong 175/7 batting first, powered by a fiery 77 from Ishan Kishan, setting a challenging target for Pakistan.

In reply, Pakistan’s chase faltered early as they lost regular wickets and struggled to build partnerships under pressure. At multiple stages, Pakistan were reduced deep inside their innings, leaving them far behind the par score and on course for a heavy defeat. India won by 61 runs.

The high-profile fixture was also marked by strained on-field interactions as both captains opted not to shake hands at the toss, reflecting lingering tensions between the sides.

India’s superiority in ICC tournament head-to-head clashes has been evident for years. In the T20 World Cup history, India have won the majority of their encounters against Pakistan, including eight of nine meetings in this event format, underscoring Pakistan’s ongoing struggles against their rivals on the global stage.

With this result, Pakistan’s difficult run against India in ICC events remains unchanged as the team looks to regroup for its remaining fixtures in this World Cup. [KNT]
