New Delhi, March 6, KNT: All India Kashmiri Samaj has called on the Jammu and Kashmir administration to prepare a comprehensive inventory of immovable properties belonging to Kashmiri migrants, expressing concern over alleged tampering of records after the community’s migration from the Valley.

The organization welcomed the outreach camps recently announced by the Jammu and Kashmir administration for redressal of grievances relating to migrant properties.

The camps have been announced through Government Order No. 559 DIVCOMK of 2026 dated March 2.

The organization said the initiative was a positive step but stressed the need for a detailed report of action taken so far in relation to properties belonging to Kashmiri migrants.

All India Kashmiri Samaj said the report should also be placed before the High Court of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh at Jammu in connection with the case OWP No. 477/2016 titled “All India Kashmiri Samaj and others versus Union of India and others”.

The matter remains under adjudication before the court.

The organization also urged authorities to organize similar grievance redressal camps in the Delhi National Capital Region where a significant number of displaced Kashmiri Hindus have been living since their migration from the Valley.

According to the organization, nearly 30 percent of displaced Kashmiri Hindus are currently residing in Delhi and surrounding areas.

It said similar exercises had earlier been conducted by the Relief Commissioner’s office in Jammu and Kashmir during the issuance of domicile certificates and Ayushman health coverage.

All India Kashmiri Samaj president Ravinder Pandita said there was a need to prepare a comprehensive inventory of immovable properties belonging to Kashmiri migrants with the cut off year fixed at 1990.

Pandita said the community fears that records related to their properties may have been altered after their migration from Kashmir.

“Government should conduct a local survey regarding those migrants’ ancestral properties left behind, for which they do not possess any records with them. These properties are inherited through lineage,” he said.

He said such a survey would help identify properties belonging to migrants and ensure their protection. [KNT]
