Srinagar, March 11, KNT: The All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) has urged the Government of India to intervene urgently to assist Indian students stranded in Iran who are facing serious difficulties amid the ongoing crisis in the region.

The appeal comes as several Indian students studying in Iranian universities are struggling to return home due to disrupted flight operations and uncertainty over travel arrangements.

According to reports, many students have started planning their exit through neighbouring Armenia as aviation operations remain disrupted due to security concerns in the region.

Dr Mohammad Momin Khan said the situation has created panic among students, particularly those preparing to travel to Armenia in order to catch flights back to India.

“Indian students stranded in Iran are facing serious difficulties. Flights are getting cancelled and students preparing to leave for Armenia are in panic,” Dr Khan said.

He urged the Government of India to step in immediately and facilitate the safe return of the students.

Reports indicate that thousands of Indian nationals, many of them medical students from Jammu and Kashmir, are currently studying in Iran and have been affected by the ongoing regional tensions and travel disruptions.

Student groups have repeatedly appealed to the authorities to ensure safe evacuation arrangements, including coordinated travel routes and assistance for those attempting to leave through neighbouring countries.

The situation has triggered anxiety among students and their families, with several organisations calling for urgent intervention by the Ministry of External Affairs to facilitate their return. [KNT]
