Jammu, March 27, KNT: A scuffle broke out between Congress MLA Irfan Hafiz Lone and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Yudvir Sethi on Friday inside the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly following slogan shouting by Congress members against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The altercation occurred during the ongoing Assembly session in Jammu, leading to chaotic scenes and disruption in proceedings as members from both sides engaged in heated exchanges.

The incident underscores rising political tensions inside the House, with legislators clashing over issues that critics said diverted attention from public concerns.

Congress MLAs raised slogans targeting Prime Minister Modi, prompting strong reactions from BJP legislators.

During the exchange, BJP MLA Yudvir Sethi made remarks targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

“Rahul Gandhi is ‘Pappu’,” Sethi said during the confrontation.

The slogan shouting soon escalated into a physical scuffle between Congress MLA Irfan Hafiz Lone and Sethi, with other members intervening to separate them.

The situation briefly resembled a “fish market”, with multiple legislators shouting simultaneously and disrupting normal proceedings.

The disruption forced a temporary halt in proceedings as marshals and senior members attempted to restore order in the House. [KNT]
