Tanvir Sadiq Reacts to Bureaucrats’ Letters Seeking Disallowance of Statehood Resolution
Srinagar, Sep 29 KNT: National Conference MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Tuesday reacted to the reported communications sent by the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary and Law Secretary to the Legislative Assembly Secretariat seeking that the statehood resolution not be taken up.
In a post on social media, Sadiq questioned how senior bureaucrats could approach the Assembly Speaker seeking to stop a resolution moved by the elected Chief Minister without the knowledge of the concerned minister.
He said the episode raised questions about accountability to the people and argued that the development highlighted the need for restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
The remarks came after reports that Chief Secretary Atal Duloo and Law Secretary Achal Sethi had separately written to the Assembly Secretariat seeking disallowance of the statehood resolution, citing the matter as sub judice. The Speaker and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have also publicly questioned the circumstances surrounding the communications. [KNT]
