Srinagar Police Destroy 2,040 Kg Seized Drugs in Pulwama Incinerators

Srinagar, April 6, KNT: Srinagar Police have destroyed 2,040 kilograms of seized drugs in industrial incinerators at Industrial Estate Lassipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, in connection with 46 registered cases, according to official information.

The destruction included narcotics and contraband substances seized by Srinagar Police from different parts of the city over a period of time, reflecting ongoing enforcement action under anti-drug laws.

Of the total quantity destroyed, around 1,100 kilograms comprised narcotic substances, while approximately 940 kilograms consisted of contraband materials including charas, ganja and various tablets, reliable sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.

The disposal was carried out in industrial incinerators at Lassipora, Pulwama, in accordance with established procedures for the destruction of seized narcotics under NDPS Act.

The seized substances had been recovered in multiple cases registered across Srinagar, with police linking the disposals to 46 FIRs during the year 2025.

Police said the drugs were confiscated during operations conducted in different areas of Srinagar city as part of efforts to curb drug trafficking and distribution.

The destruction of seized narcotics is part of standard legal procedure aimed at preventing re-circulation of drugs and ensuring safe disposal of hazardous substances. [KNT]
