Srinagar, April 7, KNT: Nine government officials faced action in Jammu and Kashmir during March as the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a series of trap operations and registered cases in alleged bribery incidents across multiple departments.
Seven officials were arrested in separate trap cases, while cases were registered against two others, officials said.
Those arrested include Parvaiz Ahmed Bhati, Head Constable and Investigating Officer at Police Post Talwara in Reasi; Saffdar Hussain Mir, Patwari of Halqa Batmaloo in Srinagar; Sajad Ahmad Raina, Technical Assistant in Rural Development Department Budgam; Arif Iqbal, Meter Reader in Power Development Department Rajouri; Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, Naib Tehsildar Arwani in Anantnag; Manzoor Ahmad Dar, Executive Engineer in Jal Shakti (PHE) Mechanical Division South Awantipora; and Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, Special Police Officer posted at Police Station Larnoo in Anantnag.
The ACB also registered cases against Mohammad Zaman, Forest Guard, and Ajaz Ahmed, Forester, posted in Forest Department Range Kandi Rajouri, in connection with alleged bribery.
Officials said the cases involved alleged bribe demands ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹40,000, with trap operations conducted following complaints.
The action was reported from multiple districts including Reasi, Srinagar, Budgam, Rajouri, and Anantnag, indicating the spread of anti-corruption enforcement across departments such as police, revenue, rural development, power, engineering, and forest.
Officials said proceedings in all cases were carried out as per established procedures. [KNT]
