Srinagar, April 28, KNT: A Delhi court has granted interim bail to incarcerated Kashmir Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid, a development welcomed by Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, who also urged further relief on humanitarian grounds as Rashid’s father remains critically ill.
In a statement, Bukhari said the bail granted by the Delhi court would provide some relief to Rashid and his family during a difficult time.
“Relieved to know that the Hon’ble Delhi Court has granted interim bail to Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid to visit his ailing father. Though temporary, this relief will surely bring some comfort to him and his family during this difficult time,” he said.
He noted that Rashid’s father is on ventilator support, adding that the duration of hospitalization and outcome remain uncertain.
“In view of these circumstances, I appeal the Government of India to consider granting parole to Engineer Rashid, so that he may stay with his ailing father and support his distressed family for as long as his presence is urgently needed,” Bukhari said.
The appeal comes amid ongoing legal proceedings involving the MP, with the interim relief allowing him to attend to a family medical emergency. [KNT]
