Srinagar, May 1, KNT: The India Meteorological Department has forecast above-normal rainfall and below-normal temperatures for Jammu and Kashmir during the month of May.
According to the latest outlook, most parts of the Union Territory, including the Kashmir Valley, are likely to receive higher-than-usual precipitation, indicating a wetter month ahead.
The temperature outlook suggests that maximum temperatures across the region are expected to remain below normal, pointing to relatively cooler daytime conditions compared to typical May patterns.
The forecast signals a departure from usual early summer trends, with increased cloud cover and frequent rainfall likely to influence weather conditions across the region.
Officials said the outlook is based on probabilistic seasonal models and may vary at the local level. [KNT]
