
Kulgam, May 30, KNT: Kulgam Police on Saturday attached two residential properties collectively valued at more than ₹1 crore in separate narcotics-related cases, saying the assets had been acquired through proceeds generated from illegal drug trade.
The action forms part of an intensified effort by police to target financial assets allegedly created through narcotics trafficking, alongside criminal proceedings against those accused in drug-related cases.
Police said a residential house valued at ₹52 lakh belonging to Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, son of Mohammad Maqbool Mir, resident of Kujjar Frisal, Yaripora, was attached after being identified as property allegedly acquired through proceeds generated from illegal trade in drugs and narcotics.
The attachment was carried out in connection with FIR No. 10/2021 registered at Police Station Yaripora.
In another case, police attached a single-story residential house valued at ₹49 lakh belonging to Feroze Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Ahmad Khan, resident of Munnad, Tehsil Yaripora.
According to police, the property was allegedly acquired through proceeds generated from illegal narcotics trade and was attached in connection with FIR No. 72/2023 registered at Police Station Behibagh.
Police said the attachment proceedings were carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act through the competent authority SAFEMA.
The exercise was conducted in the presence of a duly constituted police team and Executive Magistrate, with police stating that all legal procedures and transparency norms were followed.
Kulgam Police said it remained committed to combating narcotics-related activities by targeting both offenders and assets allegedly generated through illicit trade.
Police also urged the public to share information relating to drug trafficking and associated activities. [KNT]
