Srinagar, June 5, KNT: Traffic movement on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained smooth on Friday, with no major traffic jams or disruptions reported from either the Jammu or Kashmir sectors.

Officials monitoring the highway said vehicles were moving normally along NH-44, including the crucial Banihal-Srinagar stretch, which often witnesses congestion due to maintenance works, landslides or heavy traffic volume.

According to traffic authorities, both passenger and commercial vehicles were plying without significant delays, providing relief to commuters and transporters using the vital road link connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country.

No major bottlenecks, roadblocks or weather-related interruptions were reported from the Banihal-Ramban sector or other vulnerable stretches of the highway during the day.

Authorities, however, advised motorists to remain cautious while driving through mountainous sections of the road and strictly adhere to lane discipline to ensure smooth traffic movement.

Drivers have also been urged to avoid overtaking at vulnerable locations and follow traffic advisories issued by the Traffic Police from time to time.

The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway serves as the primary surface link between Kashmir and the rest of India and remains crucial for passenger movement, transportation of essential commodities and commercial traffic. [KNT]
