Kulgam Police Conduct Raids on JEI Members, Sympathizers; Launch Narco-CASO in Multiple Areas

Kulgam, June 22, KNT: Kulgam Police on Monday conducted raids at the residences of members and sympathizers of Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI) in several areas of the district as part of what officials described as an ongoing effort to curb activities considered detrimental to public peace and security.
Official sources said the searches were carried out in the jurisdictions of Yaripora, Behibagh and Frisal. The raids formed part of a broader security exercise undertaken by the police in the district.
Simultaneously, police launched a Narco-Cordon and Search Operation (Narco-CASO) in the same areas, targeting individuals suspected of involvement in drug trafficking and substance abuse.
During the operation, searches and verification processes were conducted at multiple locations to gather information and identify persons allegedly involved in narcotics-related activities.
Officials said the simultaneous operations were aimed at addressing both security concerns and the growing challenge posed by drug abuse and trafficking.
Police maintained that the drive would continue in accordance with law and that action would be taken against individuals found involved in unlawful activities.
Further details regarding recoveries, detentions or subsequent legal action, if any, were awaited at the time of filing. [KNT]
