Electric Shock Incident in Budgam Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

Budgam, May 21, KNT: One person died and another sustained injuries after an electric shock incident involving a Low Tension (LT) line was reported from the Wager area of Khansahib in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday, officials said.

According to reports, the two persons suffered electric shock and were immediately evacuated to District Hospital Budgam for treatment.

Doctors at the hospital, however, declared one of them brought dead.

The deceased was identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, son of Nazir Ahmad Dar and a resident of Wager Khansahib.

The second injured, identified as Mohammad Iqbal Bhat, son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat and also a resident of Wager, sustained injuries and was undergoing treatment at District Hospital Budgam.

The circumstances leading to the electric shock were not immediately known.

Police and concerned authorities were expected to ascertain the exact sequence of events surrounding the incident. [KNT]
