DC Srinagar Reviews Ramzan Preparations, Directs Seamless Arrangements

Strict Market Vigil, Uninterrupted Power and Water Supply Ordered

Srinagar, Feb 17, KNT: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo on Tuesday chaired a comprehensive meeting of district and sectoral officers at the DC Office Complex to review preparedness and finalise arrangements for the forthcoming holy month of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak, directing departments to ensure smooth and hassle-free observance across the district.

The meeting was attended by senior civil and police officers, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, Superintendent of Police Umar Shah, senior engineers of KPDCL, PHE, SMC and R&B, SDMs, Tehsildars and representatives of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner sought detailed action plans regarding electricity, water supply, sanitation, essential commodities, transport, parking and medical facilities. He directed KPDCL engineers to ensure uninterrupted power supply, particularly during Sehri and Iftari hours, while the PHE Department was asked to maintain adequate drinking water supply across all areas.

The FCS and CA Department was instructed to ensure sufficient availability of ration and LPG and to strictly enforce government-approved rates. The DC ordered deployment of special inspection teams under SDM East and SDM West to curb profiteering, hoarding and ensure quality standards in markets.

He directed the Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, AD FCS and CA and Tehsildars to maintain strict vigil on the quality of chicken, meat, milk, vegetables, fruits and other daily consumables to prevent adulteration.

The SMC was asked to conduct special sanitation drives in all areas, particularly around prominent Masjids and shrines, and to restore defunct streetlights on a war footing. Departments concerned were instructed to repair potholes and prioritise roads leading to major religious congregation venues.

Adequate public transport arrangements during evening hours and necessary healthcare facilities across the district were also ordered.

Extending greetings to the people on the commencement of the holy month, the Deputy Commissioner expressed hope for a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Ramzan. [KNT]
