Farooq Abdullah Says NC Will Continue Struggle for Restoration of Article 370
Srinagar, August 6, KNT: National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Thursday reiterated that his party would continue its political struggle for the restoration of Article 370, maintaining that the constitutional changes introduced on August 5, 2019, were unconstitutional.
Speaking to reporters, Abdullah said there was no ambiguity about his party’s position on the issue, asserting that the decision to abrogate Article 370 did not have constitutional sanctity and that the National Conference would continue pursuing its restoration through democratic and constitutional means.
Referring to the Opposition protest held outside Parliament on Wednesday, he said the demonstration highlighted the continuing demand for the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the issue remained central to the political aspirations of the people.
The NC president maintained that his party would persist with its campaign for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s constitutional rights and statehood, saying the struggle would continue until its objectives were achieved. [KNT]
