Young Shepherd Killed in Lightning Strike in Kupwara’s Keran

Kupwara, August 6, KNT: A 25-year-old shepherd was killed after being struck by lightning in the remote Gugerdoor area of Keran in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district during the intervening night, officials said on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of Sangdan Patti in Warsun, who was grazing and camping with his flock of sheep in the high-altitude pasture when the lightning struck.

Officials said the body was recovered from the spot and shifted to Police Station Keran, where legal formalities were being completed.

Police have initiated proceedings in the matter. [KNT]
