Bandipora, Oct 13: KNT: The 85-kilometre Gurez–Bandipora road was closed to vehicular traffic as a precautionary measure following fresh snowfall in Gurez Valley and at Razdan Pass in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

The road will remain closed until further notice, with the precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety of commuters amid prevailing weather conditions and slippery road surfaces.

Razdan Pass, situated at an altitude of around 3,558 metres, is the only road link connecting Gurez Valley with the rest of Kashmir. The high-altitude pass lies close to the Line of Control (LoC) and is particularly vulnerable to snowfall and adverse weather conditions.

The closure has temporarily cut off road connectivity between Gurez Valley and the rest of Kashmir, with the route expected to remain shut until authorities consider it safe for vehicular movement. [KNT]
