GMC Srinagar Postpones Senior Resident Exam After Candidates Raise Date Clash Issue

Srinagar, June 15, KNT: Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar on Monday postponed its Senior Resident recruitment examination that was earlier scheduled for June 18, providing relief to hundreds of candidates who had raised concerns over a clash with a similar examination being conducted by GMC Jammu on the same day.

The decision comes days after doctors and aspirants urged the government to intervene, arguing that conducting both examinations simultaneously would force eligible candidates to forgo one of the opportunities.

According to a postponement notice issued by the Controller of Examinations, GMC Srinagar, the OMR-based written test for engagement of Senior Residents, scheduled for June 18, has been deferred.

The notice states that the examination will now be conducted on June 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the previously notified venue.

The development follows representations from candidates and health activist Dr. Mohammad Momin Khan, who had appealed for immediate intervention, describing the scheduling conflict as unfair to aspiring doctors seeking positions at both premier medical institutions.

The postponement effectively removes the clash and allows eligible candidates to compete for recruitment opportunities in both GMC Srinagar and GMC Jammu.

The move is being viewed as a significant relief for medical graduates and postgraduate doctors who had expressed concern that simultaneous examinations could adversely affect their career prospects.

Candidates have been advised to follow official notifications issued by GMC Srinagar for any further updates regarding the recruitment process. [KNT]
