Ramban, Feb 27, KNT: A truck driver lost his life while another person sustained injuries after a poultry-laden vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir late Thursday night, officials said.

The accident occurred on a hilly stretch of road in the district when the truck, reportedly carrying chickens, skidded off the roadway and fell into a gorge. Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle, though the exact cause of the mishap remains to be ascertained.

Rescue teams, assisted by locals, launched an immediate operation and retrieved the occupants from the damaged vehicle. The driver was declared dead at the scene due to the severity of injuries sustained in the fall.

The conductor of the truck was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is stated to be under medical supervision.
