J&K Government Approves ₹16.36 Crore for Restoration of Two Heritage Religious Sites
Srinagar, July 28, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved projects worth ₹16.36 crore for the restoration and conservation of two historic religious sites in the Union Territory as part of its heritage preservation initiative.
According to the government, ₹6.05 crore has been sanctioned for the revival and restoration of the historic Jamia Masjid Sharief in Shopian. The project will be undertaken on heritage lines with the objective of preserving the architectural and historical significance of the mosque.
In addition, the government has approved ₹10.31 crore for the restoration of the historic Sarvadhar Chaumanda Mata Mandir in Ramban. The project is aimed at conserving the temple while protecting its cultural and heritage value.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the projects reflect the government’s commitment to preserving Jammu and Kashmir’s rich and diverse heritage.
The restoration works are expected to focus on conserving the original architectural character of the two religious sites while ensuring their structural stability for future generations. [KNT]
