Srinagar, Feb 25, KNT: Jammu and Kashmir will be the last region in the country to enforce the Teacher Eligibility Test guidelines, Education Minister Sakina Itoo said on Wednesday, a day after the School Education Department issued a formal order in this regard.

Addressing reporters, Itoo clarified that the TET framework would not be implemented immediately in the Union Territory. “We are not implementing the TET orders immediately. J&K will be the last region in the country to conduct TET examinations,” she said.

The Minister stated that many teachers in the region have devoted decades of service to educating students and their concerns would be taken into account before any decision is operationalised.

Her remarks came after the School Education Department designated the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education as the nodal agency to conduct the TET examination in the Union Territory.[KNT]
