‘Kashmir Integral Part of India, Whole World Knows It’: Tariq Karra

Srinagar, Aug 20, KNT: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president Tariq Karra on Thursday said Kashmir has always been an integral part of India and questioned the context in which US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor referred to Kashmir as an “important part of India” during his visit to Srinagar.
“Kashmir is an integral part of India and the whole world knows it. I don’t know in which context he said this,” Karra said while reacting to Gor’s remarks.
The Congress leader said Kashmir’s status was not something that required validation from a foreign representative, maintaining that its integration with India was an established fact.
Karra also criticized what he described as the Union Government’s policy of allowing or encouraging third-party involvement in matters concerning Kashmir.
“The third-party intervention on Kashmir is a failed policy of the present Indian government,” he said.
Asked about Pakistan’s objection to Gor’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir and the reported summoning of the Charge d’Affaires by Pakistan, Karra said the matter was an internal issue for Pakistan.
He argued that the involvement of third parties in matters concerning Kashmir as well as other issues, including Operation Sindoor, reflected what he termed the failure of the present government.
“Third-party intervention on every matter, whether it is Operation Sindoor or Kashmir, depicts the failure of the present Indian government,” Karra said. [KNT]
