Kupwara, May 24, KNT: A lightning strike claimed the life of a youth and left another injured in Chandigam area of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday, officials said.
The incident occurred when two young men were struck by lightning in the area.
The deceased was identified as Abid Rahim Ganie, son of Abdul Rahim Ganie, aged 23. Officials said he died on the spot.
The injured youth was identified as Faizan Rahman Dar, son of Abdul Rahman Dar, aged 24.
Both were immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital Sogam, where doctors declared Abid Rahim Ganie brought dead.
Doctors provided initial treatment to the injured youth before referring him to Government Medical College Handwara for advanced treatment.
Police have taken up further investigation into the incident. [KNT]
