Man dies after collapsing at R.S. Pura police post, family questions circumstances

Jammu, Sep 9, KNT: A 32-year-old man died after he reportedly fell unconscious at Chakroi police post in the R.S. Pura area of Jammu on Wednesday, with his family questioning the circumstances surrounding his death and seeking a fair probe.
The deceased has been identified as Uttam Chand, a resident of Rakh village. He had reportedly been called to the police post in connection with a complaint by a woman over a property dispute.
Reports said that Chand fell unconscious at the police post and was taken to Sub-District Hospital R.S. Pura. Doctors referred him to Government Medical College Jammu, but he died while being shifted. His body was subsequently moved to a mortuary for postmortem.
Family members and relatives protested following his death and sought clarity over what happened at the police post before Chand became unconscious. Senior police officers reportedly reached the spot following the protest.
The cause of death has not yet been established. The postmortem examination is expected to determine the medical cause of death, while the circumstances preceding his collapse remain subject to verification. [KNT]
