‘NC Couldn’t Gather 100 Workers Despite Ministers, MLAs Leading March’: BJP Leader
Srinagar, Sep 2, KNT: BJP leader Sajid Yousuf Shah on Wednesday questioned the National Conference’s claim of having successfully registered its protest outside the BJP headquarters in Srinagar, alleging that the party’s senior leadership was in Lal Chowk when the NC march took place.
In a post on X, the BJP leader said the NC had concluded its protest march with ministers and MLAs leading the procession and claimed that the protesters described the demonstration outside the BJP office as a success.
He questioned the purpose of the protest, saying the BJP’s state leadership was in Lal Chowk at the time and that only a non-political office employee was present at the BJP office.
“Who were they actually protesting against?” he asked, questioning whether the NC was trying to create a political spectacle rather than confront the BJP leadership.
The BJP leader further claimed that despite the presence of ministers and legislators, the NC could not gather even 100 workers for the march.
His remarks came after the NC held a protest in Raj Bagh and attempted to move towards the BJP headquarters in Jawahar Nagar, where police stopped the protesters.
The BJP and NC held rival demonstrations in Srinagar on Wednesday over competing political issues, with the NC demanding restoration of statehood and constitutional guarantees, while the BJP focused its protest on employment and governance-related issues. [KNT]
