Srinagar, July 4, KNT: Nearly 100 households in Iqra Colony, Batamaloo, are grappling with an acute drinking water crisis, with residents alleging that they have been left almost entirely dependent on water tankers due to the absence of a reliable piped water supply.

The affected inhabitants told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that several households either have no piped drinking water connection or receive no water through the existing pipelines, forcing families to wait for water tankers to meet their daily domestic needs.

They said the prolonged shortage has caused immense hardship, particularly for children, elderly persons and women, who struggle every day to secure water for drinking and other household purposes.

According to the locals, repeated requests to the concerned authorities have failed to yield any lasting solution, with tanker supply remaining the only source of drinking water for the locality.

They urged authorities to immediately restore regular water supply to the colony and address the issue on a permanent basis instead of relying on temporary arrangements.

They warned that the crisis is likely to worsen if timely measures are not taken to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply to the area. [KNT]
