One Killed, Another Critically Injured After Car Plunges Into Jhelum in Uri
Baramulla, June 21, KNT: One person was killed and another sustained critical injuries after an Alto car skidded off the road and plunged into the River Jhelum at Rajerwani along the Baramulla-Uri Highway in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday. Authorities launched a rescue operation immediately after the accident.
Officials said the vehicle veered off the road before falling into the river, prompting an emergency response by local authorities and rescue teams.
According to officials, rescue personnel rushed to the spot and retrieved the occupants from the submerged vehicle before shifting them to a nearby medical facility.
However, one of the occupants succumbed to injuries, while the other was reported to be in critical condition and undergoing treatment, officials said.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. The identities of the victims had not been officially confirmed at the time of filing this report. [KNT]
