Teenager Drowns While Bathing in Doodhganga River in Budgam

Budgam, June 21, KNT: A 15-year-old boy drowned while bathing in the Doodhganga River in the Manchowa area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday, triggering a large-scale search operation by police, rescue personnel and local residents.

The incident occurred when the teenager allegedly slipped into the river while bathing. Drowning incidents in Kashmir’s rivers and streams continue to raise concerns, particularly during the summer months when people, especially youngsters, frequent water bodies to escape the heat.

The deceased has been identified as Aabid Hussain, a resident of Gool Gulab Garh.

Soon after the incident, local residents alerted authorities, following which police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and launched a search operation to trace the boy.

Officials said efforts were underway to locate the teenager, with rescue teams conducting searches in and around the affected stretch of the river.
