Anantnag, June 9, KNT: Anantnag Police has launched the “Pahchan App,” a QR-based verification system designed to strengthen security arrangements and improve services for pilgrims and tourists ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra 2026.

The initiative introduces a digital mechanism for the verification of service providers associated with the pilgrimage and tourism sectors, reflecting an increased focus on security, transparency, and accountability during one of Jammu and Kashmir’s largest religious events.

The launch assumes significance as authorities intensify preparations for the upcoming Yatra, which attracts thousands of pilgrims from across the country and requires extensive logistical and security planning.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, Amod Ashok Nagpure, said the Pahchan App has been developed to facilitate the verification of service providers through a QR-based system while ensuring a seamless experience for pilgrims and tourists.

He said that the application will help establish an authenticated database of individuals and entities providing services during the Yatra, enabling visitors to verify credentials and enhancing confidence in the services being offered.

Nagpure added that the initiative is expected to improve transparency while supporting security agencies in monitoring and regulating activities linked to the pilgrimage.

The app forms part of broader efforts by the district police to integrate technology into public service delivery and security management, particularly during major events that witness large-scale public participation.

Authorities expressed hope that the platform will contribute to a safer and more organized environment for pilgrims and tourists visiting the district during the Amarnath Yatra season. [KNT]
