Rainfall Intensity to Ease by Tonight, Fresh Wet Spell Expected From July 28: IMD
Srinagar, July 23, KNT: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said the ongoing spell of heavy rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir is likely to weaken by late Thursday, although intermittent showers are expected to continue over the coming days.
According to the latest forecast, light to moderate rainfall is expected across the Union Territory on July 24, followed by brief spells of rain and thundershowers at isolated places between July 25 and July 27.
The MeT Department has also forecast a fresh wet spell from July 28 to July 30, indicating the return of more widespread rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir.
Despite the anticipated improvement in weather conditions, the department has advised people to remain vigilant as the risk of flash floods, landslides, mudslides, shooting stones and a rise in water levels of rivers and streams continues in vulnerable areas.
Authorities have urged commuters to monitor official weather and traffic advisories before undertaking travel, particularly on hilly routes that remain susceptible to weather-related disruptions. [KNT]
