Rs 3 Lakh Stolen From Grocery Shop in Poonch, CCTV Captures Masked Suspect

Poonch, July 7, KNT: Burglars decamped with around Rs 3 lakh in cash from a grocery shop in the Lower Mangalore area of Poonch district during the intervening night, prompting police to launch an investigation.

The shop owner, Mushtaq Ahmad, said he discovered the theft after reaching his shop on Tuesday morning and finding the shutter open. On entering the premises, he found that approximately Rs 3 lakh in cash was missing.

According to the shop owner, the stolen amount was meant to be handed over to a wholesaler.

He said CCTV footage installed at the shop captured a masked individual carrying out the theft. The suspect was also seen attempting to damage one of the surveillance cameras before fleeing from the spot.

Police reached the scene soon after being informed, took possession of the CCTV footage and other evidence, and initiated an investigation.

Officials assured the shop owner that the suspect would be identified and brought to justice. Further investigation is underway. [KNT]
