Srinagar, April 28, KNT: An RTI reply citing information from the Election Commission of India has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party did not appoint any authorized agents during the Rajya Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir to verify or confirm whom its MLAs voted for.

The response was provided to a query seeking details on whether the party had deputed authorized representatives to monitor and confirm voting by its legislators during the election process.

According to the reply, no such agents were appointed by the PDP, and consequently, no verification or confirmation was carried out regarding the voting pattern of its MLAs in the Rajya Sabha elections.

The RTI response further clarified that the information was based on inputs provided by the Election Commission of India.

The disclosure assumes significance amid ongoing political debate in Jammu and Kashmir over alleged cross-voting during the Rajya Sabha polls, with parties trading claims over which legislators supported candidates across party lines. [KNT]
