School Bus Plunges Into Gorge in Budgam, Driver Killed, Two Students Injured

Budgam, June 12, KNT: A driver was killed and two students were injured after a school bus belonging to IPTS School, Khansahib, skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in the Neego Brenwar area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Shahid Ahmad Lone, son of Zahoor Ahmad Lone, a resident of Kechwari, Khansahib. Officials said the driver died on the spot after the bus met with the accident.

The incident occurred when the school bus reportedly lost control and veered off the road before falling into a gorge, triggering a rescue operation by locals and authorities.

Two students, identified as Tanzil-ul-Islam and Illaf Ahmad, both residents of Raiyar, Khansahib, sustained injuries in the accident.

The injured students were initially shifted to Community Health Centre Surasyar and later referred to Sub-District Hospital Chadoora. Owing to the nature of their injuries, both were subsequently shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for specialized treatment.
