SSP orders crackdown on NDPS networks, financial investigations into crime proceeds
Srinagar, Sep 22, KNT: Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy chaired a comprehensive crime and security review meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir, reviewing the prevailing security situation, crime disposal and operational preparedness in the district.
The meeting was attended by Zonal Superintendents of Police, SP Headquarters, DySP Headquarters, Sub-Divisional Police Officers, Station House Officers and other senior officers of Srinagar District Police.
The meeting reviewed the overall crime situation, with discussions focusing on improving the quality of investigations and prosecution in general crime, POCSO cases and crimes against women, among other offenses.
The SSP conducted a performance review of police zones, sub-divisions and police stations, with emphasis on expediting the disposal of pending cases and effective implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
While reviewing action against narcotics, Chakravarthy directed officers to identify and dismantle drug-trafficking hotspots and investigate the forward and backward linkages of narcotics and cases involving alleged terror funding.
He also directed officers to initiate financial investigations in such cases and take action for freezing bank accounts and attachment of properties allegedly derived from illegal proceeds, in accordance with law.
Reviewing the security grid, the SSP assessed operational preparedness and deployment of personnel across Srinagar. He directed field formations to intensify area domination, strengthen counter-insurgency operations and increase checkpoint checking at vulnerable locations and inter-district entry points.
The SSP stressed the need for round-the-clock vigilance and coordination among field units to respond to emerging security challenges and maintain public order in Srinagar. [KNT]
