Srinagar, Sep 22, KNT: As many as 64,439 posts are lying vacant across various departments of Jammu and Kashmir, according to figures placed before the Legislative Assembly.
The vacancies comprise 6,391 gazetted, 42,572 non-gazetted and 15,476 Multi-Tasking Staff posts.
The Health and Medical Education Department accounts for 12,797 vacancies, including 2,125 gazetted, 8,064 non-gazetted and 2,608 MTS posts.
The School Education Department is also among the departments with a substantial number of vacant positions.
The government has been providing department-wise details of vacancies, including posts referred to recruitment agencies such as the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission and Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board.
The figures cover district, department and cadre-wise vacancies across the administration and were placed before the House during the ongoing autumn session. [KNT]
