Two Held With Heroin-Like Substance During Naka Checking in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 19, KNT: Police in Srinagar on Tuesday apprehended two persons during a naka checking operation in the Zoonimar area of Zadibal and recovered a heroin-like substance from their possession, officials said.

The arrests were made during routine checking conducted by Police Station Zadibal at Zoonimar.

Officials identified the accused as Showkat Ahmad Dar, a resident of Umarhair Buchpora, and Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Ahmad Nagar.

Police said a heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession during the operation.

Following the recovery, police registered a case under FIR No. 09/2026 under Section 9/21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Zadibal.

Officials said further investigation into the case had been initiated to ascertain the source and intended distribution network linked to the recovered substance.

Police reiterated their continued efforts to curb narcotics trafficking and substance abuse through intensified surveillance and enforcement operations across Srinagar. [KNT]
