Fresh Gunfire, Explosions Echo Through Rajouri Forests as Manjakote Operation Enters Day 3
Rajouri, May 26, KNT: Fresh gunshots and heavy explosions continued to reverberate through the Dori Maal area of Manjakote in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Monday as the anti-militancy operation entered its third day, officials said.
Security forces intensified the operation amid reports of intermittent firing and explosions from the dense forest area where militants are believed to be hiding.
Officials said additional reinforcements were rushed to the operation site to strengthen the cordon and prevent any possible escape from the forest belt.
The operation, spread across difficult and densely wooded terrain, has witnessed sustained search efforts by security personnel over the past three days.
Fresh firing and explosions on Monday indicated that contact with militants persisted in the area, though officials had not immediately disclosed further operational details.
Security agencies continued to maintain a tight cordon around the suspected hideout zone as search and combing operations progressed.
The dense forests and rugged topography of the Manjakote sector have posed operational challenges, prompting deployment of additional manpower and resources.
There was no immediate official word regarding the number of militants believed to be trapped. KNT]
