People Seek Action Against Striking Patwaris

Budgam, April 2, KNT: Inhabitants of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Saturday urged the government to take stern action against revenue officials who are observing a pen-down strike, alleging that repeated protests by Patwaris over what they termed minor issues are causing undue hardship to the public.
A delegation from the district said routine revenue services have been severely affected due to the ongoing strike, disrupting issuance of land records, verification documents and other essential services. They warned that prolonged suspension of work would compound difficulties for people dependent on revenue offices for day-to-day administrative matters.
The strike has been called by Patwaris across Budgam district in protest against the recent suspension of four revenue officials from Chadoora tehsil. The suspension reportedly triggered resentment within the revenue department, prompting officials to halt work in solidarity.
Members of the delegation said frequent strikes over internal departmental matters place an unfair burden on common people. They appealed to the administration to ensure accountability and uninterrupted functioning of public offices.
Meanwhile, the Patwar Association Budgam maintained that the pen-down protest would continue until the suspension orders issued against the four officials are revoked. The association termed the action against the officials unjust and demanded immediate intervention from higher authorities. [KNT]
