Leh, July 15, KNT: Police in Ladakh have solved a major burglary case within 72 hours of its reporting, arresting three accused and recovering the entire stolen property, including premium smartphones and cash, in what officials described as a swift and coordinated investigation.
The case pertains to a burglary at Mobile Planet, a mobile phone outlet located at Japa Complex near the Old Bus Stand in Leh. According to the police, unidentified persons allegedly broke into the shop during the intervening night of July 6 and 7 and decamped with a large number of high-value smartphones and cash.
Following the complaint lodged by the shop owner, Ahmad Hussain, Police Station Leh registered FIR No. 149/2026 under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation.
Investigators constituted a dedicated team headed by Head Constable Mohammad Kazim and Head Constable No. 491/L, combining technical surveillance, CCTV footage analysis and human intelligence to identify those involved in the burglary.
The investigation led to the arrest of three accused on July 10. They have been identified as Chudamadi Sharma, Krishan Kumar and Ratan Kumar, all residents of Lingdung, Jumla, Nepal, presently residing at Housing Colony, Leh.
Based on disclosures made during questioning and subsequent searches, police recovered the entire stolen property, including multiple premium smartphones of Apple iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel and Redmi brands, along with the stolen cash.
The accused have been taken into custody, while further investigation and legal proceedings in the case are underway. [KNT]
