Three US Troops Killed, Five Seriously Wounded in Operation Epic Fury: CENTCOM

Washington, Mar 1, KNT: Three United States service members have been killed in action and five others seriously wounded during Operation Epic Fury, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.
In an update issued at 9:30 am Eastern Time, CENTCOM said several additional personnel sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions and are currently being treated. The command added that those with minor injuries are in the process of being returned to duty.
“Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing,” CENTCOM said in its statement, describing the situation as fluid.
The US military command did not disclose the location of the operation or further operational specifics. It said the identities of the fallen service members would be withheld for at least 24 hours until their next of kin have been formally notified.
CENTCOM said it is limiting the release of additional details out of respect for the families of those killed in action.
Operation Epic Fury is understood to be part of ongoing US military operations in the region, though officials have not publicly elaborated on the broader scope of the mission. [KNT]
